How to apply -

In order to apply for membership, please read the statutes carefully. Then download the membership form and send it to the Secretary General. When your application has been approved, you will receive a welcome letter by Prof. Haller, the President of the Society, by email.

Full Members -

Full members have the right to vote in the Assembly of Members with one vote. An annual fee of 30 Euro is applicable.

Student Members -

Student members have the right to participate in the Assembly of Members with no vote. A reduced annual fee of 10 Euro is applicable.

Corporate Members -

Corporate members are qualified societies, divisions of societies, associations or confederations from European countries which serve to promote virology, in particular national societies and groups dedicated to virology. Corporate members have the right to vote in the Assembly of Members. They have one vote for 50 of their regular full members up to a maximum of 10 votes. An annual fee of 1Euro per virology capita is applicable.

Associate Members -

Members of societies, divisions of societies, associations and confederations which have the status of corporate members automatically become associate members of the Society. Associate members do not have the right to vote in the Meeting of Members, yet they may participate and have the right to speak. No annual fee is applicable.

Honorary Members -

Honorary members for life are elected by the Assembly of Members. They have the right to vote in the Assembly of Members with one vote. No annual fee is applicable.

Payment of membership fees

A payment reminder will be sent each year to all members.
(Please note: A membership application has to be submitted in order to become a member. Payment alone will not result in ESV membership.)

CORPORATE MEMBERS (= societies) receive an individual letter concerning payment.

If you do not want to pay online, membership fees can be paid by bank transfer. Please use the reference data that are listed on the downloadable pdf letter.

The European Society for Virology e.V. is a registered society with charitable purposes (eingetragener Verein mit steuerbegünstigen gemeinnützigen Zwecken). The fiscal number is: 241/108/12422. The membership fees should be tax-deductible within all EU countries. For the membership fees, the fiscal authorities usually accept the account statement as donation receipt.
